Professor Emeritus Korea National University of Arts

Founding Dean of the Korean National University of Arts, School of Dance, Hae Shik Kim was educated at Ewha Woman's University in Seoul and The Royal Ballet Upper School in London.

 Ms. Kim was prima ballerina with the Korean National Ballet Company and danced with the Zurich Opera Ballet in Switzerland and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal, Canada.  Having retired from the stage, she taught at California State University at Fresno for seventeen years.

 She was the artistic director of the Korean National Ballet company from 19930 to 1996, staging ballet works such as The Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Pas de Quatre, The Sleeping Beauty and a modern ballet piece 'ETERNITE', her own creation.  She has been the president of bi-annual World Ballet Star Gala Performance since 2000.  She was awarded "The Public Artist Prize" in 2001.  Ms. Kim was an Advisory Board member for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and appointed director of Executive Board of Seoul Performing Arts Festival in 2003.  She was an Advisory Board member of Sejong Public Art Center Festival in 2004 and artistic director of Seoul International Dance Competition.  She has been appointed chairman of 2006 Seoul Dance Festival as well. 

Ms. Kim has also served on jury for many international dance competitions including '98, 2002 and 2014 USA International Ballet Competition, '99, 2001 and 2003 Luxemburg International Ballet Competition, Helsinki Ballet Competition in 2001,  Prix de Lausanne in 2002, Nagoya International Ballet Competition in 2002 and 2005, Prague International Ballet Competition in 2002, Shanghai International Ballet Competition in 2004, Tolosa Concours in France in 2005, International Ballet Competition-Varna 2006, South African International Ballet Competition from 2008 to 2014, Youth America Grand Prix from 2012 to 2015 and Beijing Dance Competition in 2015.  She received an award of recognition from the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Korea.   

Being former vice-president of the Asia Pacific Center for the World Dance Alliance, she is CEO of the Seoul International Dance Network and currently board of chairman of the Korea Youth Ballet Stars she founded in 2013.
